The Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance (SCFBA) expressed gratitude to Chairman GT Thompson and his staff for including vital investments in specialty crops in the U.S. House Agriculture Committee’s reconciliation draft released on May 13, 2025. While the SCFBA prefers a comprehensive, bipartisan farm bill, they appreciate the support for specialty crop growers, who face urgent and significant challenges such as rising input costs, labor limitations, unfair trade practices, and natural disasters. The proposed investments are crucial, but the SCFBA emphasizes that immediate action is needed to include innovative policies and reforms, particularly in mechanization, automation, and crop insurance. They urge Congress to advance a complete farm bill to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crop growers, who contribute significantly to the nation’s food supply and economy.
