Over the past 14 years, whitefly-transmitted cucurbit viruses, such as cucurbit leaf crumple virus (CuLCrV), cucurbit yellow stunting disorder virus (CYSDV), and squash vein yellowing virus (SqVYV), have spread across various U.S. states, impacting cucurbit crops. Surveys conducted in 2020 aimed to detect these viruses and associated whiteflies in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, with a focus on improving detection methods and educating growers despite challenges posed by COVID-19 restrictions.
