Idalia Updates: Growers assess Hurricane damage in Southeast

 

Farmers and ranchers across the Southeast are surveying the impact of Hurricane Idalia on their operations, especially in Florida and Georgia. The hurricane caused damage to pecan groves, farmers' markets, and disrupted irrigation due to power outages. In Georgia, some areas were hit hard, affecting fall vegetable crops and fruit crops like blueberries and citrus. Pecan tree damage was reported in several south Georgia counties. Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) and other state groups are offering services to support recovery for growers who have experienced losses or damages due to the hurricane.
