The House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson has released draft legislation addressing agricultural labor issues, building upon recommendations developed by the bipartisan House Agriculture Labor Working Group.
The proposal reflects many of the priorities specialty crop agriculture has been advocating for in recent years, including efforts to improve workforce stability and address challenges within the current H-2A system. While the legislation remains in the early stages, its release represents an important step forward in the conversation around agricultural labor reform.
The NWA has signed on in support of the proposal and has been coordinating with Chairman Thompson’s team throughout the process. We appreciate the Committee’s engagement with specialty crop agriculture and look forward to continuing to work with lawmakers and industry partners as the legislation moves forward.
